Clucking Cockatoo

This story of Sumba the clucking cockatoo begins with Poppy the incapacitated chicken. When Poppy, one of the 4 chickens that Lara and her family raise at their home north of Nashville, broke her leg all efforts were made for proper healing.  Not only was Poppy bandaged and nursed back to health but Poppy was also treated to a roost, in her own crate in the house.  A home filled with kids and dogs and Sumba, the cockatoo. By the time Poppy was fit-as-a-fiddle, she had become quite comfortable with the family. It didn’t take long for Sumba and Poppy to become fast friends; friends who speak the same language.
