An Unplanned Profession of Faith

Here’s a little good news: On a global stage, not one particularly friendly to Christians, Will Smith made an honest profession of his faith. I’m grateful that someone has the passion to defend his wife and the humility and the vulnerability to apologize for the way he did it.

Watching his acceptance speech, did you feel it in your gut? Did it resonate in your core? It did with me. Maybe I just need to see/hear/feel that kind of real life, real faith struggle lived out. That way, I don’t feel like it’s just me and everyone else has this figured out.

Paul had similar issues as Will and me: It happens so regularly that it’s predictable. The moment I decide to do good, sin is there to trip me up. I truly delight in God’s commands, but it’s pretty obvious that not all of me joins in that delight. Parts of me covertly rebel, and just when I least expect it, they take charge.” Romans 7:21-23

Well that’s at least 3 of us.
